About Scarlett:

Scarlett Jie Chen embodies a rare combination of acclaimed performing arts background with an innovative education leadership and social activism that brings together over 20 years of personal commitment to creative vision and public service.

A top graduate from Harvard University, and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Scarlett was the winner of eleven prestigious international prizes, including the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition in Israel, the Van Cliburn Competition in the U.S.A., and the Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition in Spain.

Chen debuted with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Maestro Wolfgang Sawallisch at age 15 and went on concertising for over 20 years across the globe, with many prestigious orchestras and in solo performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Louvre in Paris, and many other major venues throughout Europe, North America and Asia.

A visionary arts administrator, she was also the founding dean of the inaugural music department at the University of Shanghai Science and Technology. In addition, she implemented innovative curricula combining technology teaching with music practice. Her students have gone on to win national and international prizes, many of which went to prestigious conservatories such as Curtis and Juilliard.

A keen believer that music is the universal language of the soul, Scarlett is excited to start her boutique consulting studio here in Hong Kong.  She looks forward to transcending boundaries and promoting better understanding across differences through dialogues in arts and culture.
