About HCHKEF
The Harvard Club of Hong Kong Education Fund (“Education Fund”) is a non-profit organization incorporated in November 2015. The Education Fund received charitable status under Section 88 (IR No. 91/14858) in May 2016. Its mission is to provide secondary school students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, with opportunities to access educational opportunities and mentorship that would otherwise not be available to them to help them better prepare for the future.
From its origins as an initiative of the Harvard Club of Hong Kong as the Harvard Book Prize in Hong Kong, over the years the Education Fund has awarded over 6,200 book prizes, provided over HKD 2 million scholarship funding, and connected close to 120 mentees and over 60 mentors to cultivate young citizen leaders in Hong Kong.
As a legal entity, the Education Fund is independent of the Harvard Club of Hong Kong and Harvard University. However, it will continue to draw from the collective expertise, networks and social capital of the broader Harvard community in Hong Kong in the years to come.
Given the significant challenges in the education field, no single organization can achieve its intended social impacts on its own. In this context, the Education Fund will build on its core strengths and strive to scale its impacts via collaborative partnerships with complementary initiatives within the education sector and the local NGO community.
The 2025 Prize Book, Scholarship & Essay Award Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 23rd, 2025 and over 600 students from 210 secondary schools will be awarded the Prize Book. Please support this meaningful program by visiting the online donation page.
